Viscount Melbourne was a title created for Peniston Lamb in 1781 in the peerage of Ireland. He had already been made a baron in 1770 and in 1815 he was made an English peer. The second Earl served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, while his brother, the third Earl, was a dipolmat. The title became extinct on the death of the 3rd Viscount, Frederick Lamb.
