Thomas Andrews was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1873. His parents were the Right Honourable Thomas Andrews (politician) and Eliza Pirrie. The Andrews family home is located in Ardara, Comber, County Down. At the age of sixteen young Thomas began his apprenticeship at Harland and Wolff, the famous shipbuilders in Belfast and quickly rose to become managing director and head of the drafting department. It was in this position that he was in charge of the design and construction of the RMS Titanic. Thomas was onboard the Titanic when it went sank.
