Sinn Féin The Workers Party, also known as "Official Sinn Féin", is a Trotskyist grouping that became known simply as "The Workers Party". Split with the Official IRA from Provisional Sinn Féin/Provisional IRA circa 1970. Now regarded as a politically spent entity, with later splits occurring within the Workers Party - firstly "Democratic Left" (briefly known as 'New Agenda'), before Democratic Left was subsumed into the Irish Labour Party.

Equally Official IRA also provided the breeding ground for other break-away groups, leading firstly in the 1970s to the INLA (Irish National Liberation Army) and subsequently to the IPLO (Irish Peoples Liberation Organisation). Activitities linked to Official IRA and its political wing include money counterfeit in Dublin during the 1980s. Officially the OIRA has never disbanded or decommissioned.
