In Irish mythology a sidh ((pl. sidhe) is the part of the underground kingdom given to the Tuatha De Danaan after they were defeated by the Milesians. Each member of the Tuatha De Danaan was given one. Later, due to a corruption of the meaning (originally "mound"), the name was applied to gods and supernatural entities (i.e. sprites).
