Redhouse is a small village in County Kilkenny, Ireland and located equidistant between the towns of Callan and Kilmanagh. Redhouse is noted in historic records as having a well which was used by thousands during the Irish potato famine as many other wells in the area had gone dry. This is attributed to a higher than average survival rate during the famine for the area. Although the village is named "Redhouse", no house there has ever been painted red or built with red bricks, even to this day, and no explanation has ever been found for its naming.
