Norwood Park is a middle-class neighborhood on the far Northwest Side of Chicago. Home to many of the city's firemen and policemen, Norwood Park is known especially for its large Irish and Italian populations. It is also among the most ethnically homogenous - and Republican - of all Chicago communities.
Often called a "suburb within the city," Norwood Park is full of green: lawns, parks, churchyards, and trees are its visual hallmarks. With its own historical society as well as a large, wooden sign marking entrance to the neighborhood, Norwood Park's greatest attribute is probably the close sense of community shared by its residents.
