Her Royal Highness Princess Louise of Wessex, known as Lady Louise Windsor, Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary Mountbatten-Windsor (born November 8th, 2003) is the daughter of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex. She is eighth in line of succession to the British throne. She was born by emergency Caesarian section, necessitated by a placental abruption causing severe blood loss to both child and mother, before her due date in December, at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey.

Though officially styled Her Royal Highness and a Princess of the United Kingdom under 1917 Letters Patent, it was announced that her official style would not be used and that she would be known simply as Lady Louise Windsor, is order to shield her from public attention.

She is the first of the Queen's male-line grandchildren not to be known as "Her Royal Highness". (A proposal to similarly change the styles of Princess Beatrice of York and Princess Eugenie of York to Lady Beatrice and Lady Eugenie was blocked by Andrew, Duke of York, their father, who felt it would be unfair to retrospectively change the titles they were born with.)
