WikiAwards is a project that attempts to organize the award-giving articles in Ireland Information Guide. (What is an award-giving page?). These awards are similar to the Academy ones but on different subjects. Here the users become the Academy Members.

The WikiAwards articles are considered Articles because of its statistical interest and information about Ireland Information Guide users opinion in categories such as History, Arts or Sports, and it is also a great way of exploring the other articles.

Example: First, a question is posed like: "For you, what was/is the greatest civilization ever?". Then the participants vote in whatever they think are the five potential greatest civilizations ever and the 5 with more votes are through to the next phase. In this second phase the 5 civilizations are voted again in a point-basis and the winner is determined.

Every award given has also a parallel goal, so that with the voting procedures, some articles, lists or projects may be expanded/created.

This page's objectives are:

  • present the current existant categories
  • explain the basics of WikiAwards
  • post the results of the votings of each category

Note: My English is not as good as I would like it to be. So, I'd appreciate it if someone corrected this page

Rules

Creating a category/award

  • If you want to create a category you should propose it in this page's Discussion. If the discussion turns positive the category is added.
  • If you want to create an award you should propose it in the chosen category's Discussion. The rest is the same applicable to the categories. There's a maximum of 10 awards at the time per category.

How to nominate/vote

The number of phases to define the award winner is 3:

  • Nomination - The participants (and only them) vote for the 5 options they think are the best to win the award (anything that corresponds to the award objective in no particular order). To do this, simply state the names of the options and sign. The period of nomination is the first week after the award was posted. Please do not state your opinion on your and others votes. Use the Discussion room for that. The 5 options more chosen go to the next phase.
  • Voting - In the voting phase we only have 5 options. Now the participants should give 10 points to the one they think is the best option an 5 points to the second best. The period of voting is the first week after the end of the nomination phase (2nd week after the award was posted).
  • Results - After the end of the voting phase the votes are counted and the results are presented in this page and in the respective category page.

Organization
