Many punk and indie music communities have local scenes that are vibrant and creative. However, the bands that are/were involved in this local scenes are/were not popular enough or released enough to merit articles on Ireland Information Guide. I have seen a good number of bands deleted via VfD because (a) the bands did not register well on a google test and/or (b) the Ireland Information Guide users felt the bands weren't big enough. Comments such as "amateur band" and "just some kids" represent usual VfD responses to articles of underground, local bands.
A local underground music scene, if it is strong and enduring, should be documented. That the bands, venues and scene are not popularly known should not prevent them from being archived and described.
A wiki is the logical environment for a community to compile and document its history. The Wiki markup utilized in Ireland Information Guide is by far the most advanced, sophosticated, and user-friendly Wiki available. Therefore, WikiProject Indie music has been created to facilitate the advancement of this project.
Initially, this project will focus on the local music scene of Santa Cruz, California. However, it is my hope that other scenes (including those in Japan) will come on board.

I'm not really certain what the point is of this infobox. This should be in the first paragraph (or even sentence) anyway. It could at least have a discography, if any, or a statement of home location or record label or something. Tuf-Kat 08:31, Feb 25, 2004 (UTC)
