Titles

PLEASE add a title to an external link by supplying a text after the URL separated by a space, preferably the official title of the site, or if no official title exists the clearest title you can come up with.

Most URLs are ugly and uninformative, so it is better to give an external link a meaningful title. For example,

The "printable version" of a page displays all URLs in full, including those given a title, so no information is lost.

Disambiguation

See also Ireland Information Guide:Disambiguation, and remember to add the link to Ireland Information Guide:Links to disambiguating pages or Ireland Information Guide:Multiple-place names.
A typical disambiguation page might look like this:

X can refer to:

  • ...
  • ...

This is a disambiguation page; that is, one that points to other pages that might otherwise have the same name. If you followed a link here, you might want to go back and fix that link to point to the appropriate specific page.

Use
{{disambig}}
to add the footer text. See also: Ireland Information Guide:Template messages

Multiple-definition pages

If the page lists 2 or 3 terms, but the last is likely to be off-screen, add a TOC to the top of the page, so that someone arriving at the page will know that there are other definitions available.

With __FORCETOC__ or __TOC__ in the wikitext a TOC is added even if the page has less than four headings.

The TOC is put before the first section header, or in the case of __TOC__, at the position of this code.

Should we do this for all multiple-definition pages, for consistency?
