General John de Chastelain (born 1938) is a Canadian soldier and diplomat. He served as the Canadian Ambassador to the United States in 1993. He has been involved in the Northern Ireland peace process, being the head of the Independent International Commission on Decommissioning. He has been witness to acts of 'putting weapons beyond use' by the Provisional IRA.
