Broadband access is available, depending on the area, through DSL, wireless broadband, cable modem and satellite. The government site, http://www.broadband.gov.ie, details which services are available in each area of the Republic. There were 131,550 broadband connections in December 2004.

  • The country code for Ireland is 353.
  • Irish numbers consist of a dialing code of 2 to 4 digits and a local number of 5 to 7 digits. The area code always commences with '0' (zero), but the leading zero must be dropped when calling from abroad.
  • The prefixes 083, 084, 085, 086 & 087 are used for mobile phones
