Carlow (Irish: Ceatharloch, meaning "four lakes") is an inland town in the south-east of Ireland in County Carlow, some 85 km (53 miles) from Dublin. It is home to a Institute of Technology, Carlow. The River Barrow flows through the town.

In recent years, Carlow has become a satellite town of Dublin, i.e. home to many people who commute daily to Dublin. Principal employers in Carlow are Braun, with a large factory producing mostly hair dryers, and Läpple (car components). Irish Sugar Company also has its offices and a large factory on the Athy Road.

The town lies on the N9 route from Dublin to Waterford. The town is also connected to the national rail network.
