Bus Átha Cliath, more usually referred to as Dublin Bus, provides an extensive bus network in Dublin City but also in the greater County Dublin area. Dublin Bus, established in 1987, is a subsidiary of Córas Iompair Éireann. Dublin Bus provides radial, cross-city and peripheral routes; it has 3,123 staff and 1020 buses (April 2001).

On 21 February 2004 at Wellington Quay, Dublin, an accident, which involved a collision between two of the companies buses, killed five and injured seventeen. The people who were killed were actually in queue at a bus stop.
