The town of Bandon is located 27 km southwest of Cork City, Ireland, on the N71 road. Bandon is sometimes called the Gateway to West Cork. The town dates from the early 17th century and is one of the oldest settlements in rural Ireland.
Having a population of roughly 6,000 people in the locality, Bandon is situated on the river Bandon between two hills. In 2004 Bandon had its 400 year celebrations.
