Ballinasloe is in County Galway and is located on the N6 National Primary route linking Dublin and Galway. It is the largest town in County Galway after Galway City. The town was a crossing point on the River Suck, a tributary of the Shannon, on the borders of Counties Galway and Roscommon. The population of the town is nearly 6,000 with a about 8,000 more living in the neighbouring area. Ballinasloe is a prosperous and expanding town, and is the main commercial/industrial centre for East Galway.
