Qualifying

From the initial seven heats of round one the first four home in each automatically qualified for the next round later that same day along with the fastest four losers.. In the second round there were four heats with the one, two, three from each together with the next four fastest losers going to the semi-finals. From there the first four from each of the semis go to the final.
